Vet said surgery went well. Sent off specimen for diagnosis on the tumor.  He is very quiet. Hard to get meds in him. Today was easier, with chicken treats.  Eating small amounts, drinking water, peeing.    Was told the heavy duty pain med would wear off in 72 hours.

so by tomorrow he may be showing more discomfort?    incision looks good, no draining.

Since we are going into the weekend, I am prepared to take him to emergency vet if he shows signs of decline.

Aww yay Rahley! Welcome home!

Yes the first few days he will be very wonky and probably disoriented. pain signals may increase so keep an eye out.

But the fact that he is taking a little food, drinking, and peeing are all GREAT signs that his recovery is textbook. Stay pawsitive, he's on the right track!

WELCOME HOME RAHLEY!!

Surgery is done and you are on the way to recovery! Ask Jerry said, the fact that he is eating drinking and peeing great news! Even if he's just being a little picky with his food, that's okay. Just give him any yummy stuff he wants right now just to get a little food in his tummy. Poop will happen, it just may take a few more days for that because of the pain meds, the surgery etc.

What pain meds did the vet send you home with? How much does he weigh. Usually dogs come home with Gabapentin , and anti-inflammatory and sometimes in antibiotic. Yeah, once all the hospital meds office system that's the time to start tweaking his pain meds.

Keep us posted and let us know if we can help in any way.

Hugs
