Hi, our lovely Golden Retriever, Daisy-May, just had a rear leg amputation on November 13th and is recovering incredibly well.  We have her staying in the safety of a 5x5 cozy pen in our living rom to keep her near us but separated from our other Golden.  Since coming home, she has bared her teeth and growled if he goes near her area in any way.  One time coming in from a potty break they accidentally crossed paths (we have made sure this doesn't happen again) and she lunged at him and snapped, he wasn't hurt and he quickly backed off.  She has relaxed about him passing by her pen but absolutely cannot cope if they do not have a fence or gate between them.  She has always been the more confident of our two dogs but never aggressive.  I am hoping this is just because she is aware she is vulnerable right now and trying to keep herself safe but am worried about post recovery and if they will ever be able to be around each other again.  We would of course not attempt to reintroduce them until she is much farther along in her healing process, but when it is time, advice on the best way to do this would really help.  They have never been 'bonded' so to speak but always 'cohabited' well.  Has anyone else dealt with this in a multi pet home?
