How many days of antibiotics were y’all sent home with?

Discharge orders and itemized bill say we should have 10 days of Cefpodoxime (antibiotic) to give but we are only on day 6 and I only have 2/3’ds dose left for tomorrow (day 7). Surgery Center says it’s because they started the antibiotics before discharge and they gave me all the pills he needed but by my math he should be getting his last dose this Thursday or Friday. Should I trust the Surgery Center gave me all the pills he needed? My gut tells me to call them and push back a little but I don’t want to be pushy, they’ve been so great to us. If they did make a mistake and I don’t get enough to cover, will those last 2-3 days of missed antibiotics have a negative effect on his recovery?

You won't be pushy, that's called advocating for Bosley. Follow your gut, always. Give them a call just to double check. In the end, vets love it when smart clients like you ask great questions like this. And let us know what they say.

I think your Vet really is the best resource for your answer.  And the answer you got certainly  sound's logical to me.

Different  surgeons use different  antibiotics and there are just too many variables  to try and give you an answer specific  to your Bosley.

That said, for your own reassurance  you can call your Vet and ask for few more pills  just  for your own peace of mind if you doubt he was given those extra doses.  In fact, they should have a schedule  in their records  showing when his meds were dispened.

Called our Vet and he did say that they most likely should have sent home enough antibiotics for 10 days but he said that since we started them a few days before the surgery we should be fine and he wasn’t worried if today was his last dose so that’s good.
