This article has been in numerous places recently about paw preference in animals. It caught my attention because I wonder if paw preference might impact how quickly tripawds adjust to being three-legged after a surgery. Based on what I have seen with the four I have worked with, it might explain why some adjust more quickly to being tripawds. Then there is a question about front leg versus rear legged amputees and how this all works together. I also suspect that after becoming a tripawd it is more difficult to determine the paw preference of an animal. What do others think?

Yowza, who wouldda thought?
But you know it makes sense that dogs can also be lefties or righties. When I lost my front left leg, my folks thought that I would never ever enjoy chomping on a bone again. But that was no problem for me! However we have heard of quite a few front-leggers who have had a difficult time getting back into gnawing, and we wondered why. It's interesting to think about.
So hey Tripawds, are you right or left pawed?
