We had long considered adding a 2nd dog to our house and had reached out on and off. We recently found out about a puppy that was available, but we had to make the move quickly. With the uncertainty of when we'd get this chance again and knowing how much our tripawd LOVES other dogs, we decided we had to see this through.
We didn't get a chance to talk to our vet and I won't be able to reach the oncologist until Tuesday. Our tripawd is on Palladia. She's tolerating it well and we are hoping it slows the progression of this horrible disease. We were told there wasn't a concern with our cat sharing the water bowl and know all the warnings about vomit and double bagging waste.
What we don't know is what precautions we need to take with a puppy in the same house. Our pup runs out into the backyard to pee, but it's not always in the same spot. Do we need to define to distinct separate areas?
I'll reach out to the oncologist, since they know the drugs best, but this is moving quickly!
Or another way to put it: If you have one dog on Palladia and one not, what precautions do you take? Obviously, the puppy will be kenneled when we can't supervise, so I'm not worried about that, but I should I make sure they don't share toys? Grooming each other? etc?

No clue on the Palladia, only a GUESS that I don't see how it would be an issue! So not any help for you! S1o yeah, give your zOnvo a call. ,aybe others who use it here can answer.

Well congrats on the new puppy!
My guess is that a puppy is no different but your vet is the best person to ask. Let us know what s/he says, this is good info for all of us to know.

Since I was getting somewhat conflicting information regarding our cat and the puppy, I went straight to the manufacturer.
The person with whom I spoke told me that she's gotten this question before and decided to check with their vets to find out if there was any info that wasn't included in the packet. Here's what they said: Do not expose either pet to vomit of feces from the patient (that we knew). They confirmed that we should try to have them urinate in different areas of the yard to limit risk of exposure. There is no known exposure through saliva unless the dog vomits or chews up the pills. Fortunately, I make a cheese pocket and those things get swallowed whole. So, water bowls and toys should not put the cat or the puppy at risk of exposure.
