So Thunder is almost a month after surgery but he still yipes when getting up as if it hurts. I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not.

He also trips sometimes when we go for a walk. When it first happened I panicked but after that it was just a lets go boy!question

I would have a chat with the vet about the yelping. Could be phantom pain , but I would definitely let the vet know it is going on.

They do tend to trip or stumble a bit. It shouldn't be all the time, just occasionally. If it is often, I would mention that to the vet as well.

Trouble would stumble and scare me to death in the early days of being on three legs, but as time went on, she got better at balancing. She would fall on occasion and it would just rip my heart out, but she would jump up and just keep going like nothing happened. They are so resilient. They teach us so much about adapting to what is thrown in our path.

I agree that a visit to your vet is the best route to take right now. There are any number of reasons why Thunder could be yelping, but hopefully this isn't anything serious. As for stumbling, that's normal during the first few weeks. Focusing on core strengthening exercises can help build balance and decrease the falls. Here's an article about that:
