Not what I wanted to hear - not what anyone wanted to hear. But he is Otis and he has cheeseburgers and he is happy.
FYI, we are doing a combo of Palladia and Cytoxan - the Palladia, M, W, F. While Pofi did not get truly sick with Palladia, I felt like he was just a bit "off" the mornings after it. Harder to get him to have breakfast. So we added Cerenia to the mix those nights and all has been much better. Hope Otis tolerates it as well or better than Pofi. Send me a note if I can share anything else with you.
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Just gave Otis his first dose of Palladia. Four pills, due to his size. But, last week I found the allergy free pill pockets (pea flour instead of grain), and they said he could take them in those so pretty easy to give them, So now, Otis is excited that his one pill pocket (for Pepcid AC) is now three (fortunately, two Palladia can be squeezed into one treat). And, after demanding breakfast at 4:30, he and Tess are now back in bed asleep, while I have to get up for work so soon I might as well stay up.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Dang mets. I'm so sorry Christine, that is the news nobody wants. You can see, however, that Otis isn't bothered in the least. He's getting spoiled rotten and loving it! Follow his lead, life is always good to a dawg.
P.S. When we found out Jerry had mets, he was symptom-free at the time. We realized he could have had them for the entire 17 months after surgery that we didn't do follow-up x-rays. He was the same dog even after we found out the stinky news. It was we who struggled with that information, not him. Life went on and he made the most of every day. I know Otis will too.

I'm so sorry to hear this but delighted that Otis is responding in inimitable Otis style. Keep milking it, Otis! And Christine, don't neglect to give yourself some nice treats too. You deserve them!
We are thinking of you,
