Vet is examining Otis now. Waiting for her call to know whether he will be able to come home. (The "whether" was a bit of a surprise. Moved a futon and his favorite bed back downstairs. Killer on my back, but gives us the option of where we will sleep.
And, if he does come home, I bet he eats better than all of us. My ex was a chef, so I'm expecting a filet mignon to show up.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Yup, I think it's safe to say that around the globe there are fingers, paws and everything else crossed for Otis xxx

He's home, and has three double cheeseburgers in his belly. The vet this morning needed to understand the game plan before she would release him. If we were going for the more invasive surgery to try to correct the tears in his lungs, she would have recommended he stay. She totally understood our plan, however, and he is laying on the futon next to me, breathing normally. Maybe we can take a nap?

He is sleeping so soundly I had to check to see if he was alive. Kind of feel like we should be doing more - sitting outside maybe - but he has got to be exhausted. I know I am.

He is home and surrounded by love (and full of cheeseburgers) - that is more than enough!

It's such a lovely peaceful image. Fast asleep, full of cheeseburgers, back home where he belongs. Do hope you can get some rest as well.
Lots of love,

Unfortunately, more than a rough spell. Tears in his lungs which cause air to collect. The vet removed 2 liters of air from one lung and one from the other. He is back home now and resting. Unfortunately, this will reoccur. Could be hours, a day or days. There is a surgical fix, but in his condition, I am not going to put him through it. He has been resting since he got home, breathing normally. If that changes, I will take him back in for a final transition.

Oh Christine, I'm so sad to read this. I was so hopeful that Otis would keep on keepin on and the Palladia would be effective in the fight. Hug him close and love on him all you can. Heartbroken for you but hoping that your remaining time together goes easy and peacefully.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
