Hi All - Enzo had is left rear leg amputation a little over a week ago. He's doing GREAT! Truly much better than I ever expected. He seems much happier and pain free. He's eating, drinking, and pooping again. But here's the issue: when he poops he doesn't squat very much and he poops on his remaining rear leg. The poop is still loose from the medication, so I end up washing just the bottom part of leg to get it off. Will his position to poop change over time as the remaining leg gets stronger or am I doomed to keep washing his one back leg? Anyone else have this issue with a rear amputee? I can't imagine this will get better when he starts chemo and gets diarrhea. And ideas or input? Anne

Glad to hear how well Enzo is doing, especially this early on.
Right now Enzo hasn’t quite figured out the proper balance and proper position for his tripod stance to poop. The fact that his stools are soft from the medication doesn’t help him with his “aim”.
Also not all dogs get diarrhea when they do chemo, so maybe Enzo will be one of the lucky ones and have a nice firm stool.😎

A weak rear end isn't too unusual, and can be improved over time. Rehab therapy makes a huge difference in speeding that up. I did tell you Tripawds Foundation can pay for the first rehab visit , right?
He may or may not experience GI upset with chemo. Most dogs sail through. If you have some green edible clay by RX Vitaminson hand it can do a lot to keep the GI system in check, along with Cerenia or Odanseteron prescribed by your vet.
