Zip is now 4 days after chemo #4 and for the second time is very painful and will not move her neck in one direction and her upper to middle back very painful. Last time it was the same area of her back but she was having lots of trouble getting up plus it was at 2 weeks post chemo. We have hot packed it and needled and massaged the area but seems like we get get post chemo and we may have had it each time since chemo but thought it was other issues. Glad to report the BUN was down, got back on her higher protein again but liver enzymes were up again. Boooooooo. Last week before chemo was a really good one maybe she just overdid it but.... Anyone else had this happen?

gosh, we never had this.  gayle always got a full bag of fluids before/after her treatment with doxorubicin, so the 'poison' could really get around and not collect...  maybe a moist towel in the microwave for a bit would be warm on her (in a plastic bag of course)...  good luck.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included).  She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

We didn't do IV chemo with Jerry, but always like to remind folks about the whole quality of life issue. There is no law dictating that you must continue treatments if they severely affect quality of life. We had one member whose dog nearly died after the first treatment ask if they should continue treatments. Only you can answer this question. Hopefully others who have gone the chemo route can provide better advice. Thanks for the update!

I have never seen this type of reaction from chemo.  If anything you can get swelling or muscle twitching in the leg where the IV was given but this sounds different.  Maybe her immune system takes such a hit from the chemo that it affects other body functions.
