There have been some discussions about the use of medical marijuana for pets and some postings on hemp oil. I just heard a radio program about a woman's search for CBD oil for her dog. Her older dog had a cognitive disorder and she wanted something to help him and thought she'd try hemp. Hemp is rich in a chemical called cannabidiol or CBD which she claims offers the medicinal benefits without the "high" since there is a minimal amount of THC. However, CBD can also be deadly if used improperly.
She got a license for medical marijuana and went to different shops and found the right product for her dog and he's doing much better now.
Here's her story:

THANKS KERREN! Informative AND such a sweet story about her precious Senior!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
What a cool story. My sister went through the same thing with her 15 year old Poodle over the last years. Fluffy just passed but maybe CBD could have helped her during those last tough months.
I'm glad the article stressed this:
There's a big difference between marijuana and hemp that's rich in a chemical called cannabidiol or CBD — which she claims offers the medicinal benefits without psychotropic effects, though it can be deadly if used improperly.

Im glad it helped Hudson!
I think it is another wonderful tool to have in our toolbox;)
Purrkins was on CBD oil before his amp and for awhile after. It was nasty tasting. I felt terrible giving it to him.
I asked Dr Matt about it yesterday and he sent us home with Canna Companion capsules. (tiny little things). Very easy to give to Purrkins !
He only uses and prescribes Bluebird Botanicals CBD oil and the Canna Companion. If anyone is interested;)
We will report what we see in a month or so!
