We are now 5 days post op and Lola is doing great. We are amazed at how resilient she is. We seem to be able to keep the drainage at bay by applying warm compresses 3-4 times/day. Today she grabbed her toy football and wanted to head outside for a little catch! I guess that will have to wait a little while yet, but we are encouraged by her wanting to play! She love to go for car rides, but I am a little apprehensive till the stitches come out. She seems happy to just go outside and sit in the yard, watching the neighborhood. Thank you to all who have offered encourgement and advice. This forum is a wonderful way for all to share stories and feelings, and advice. We are still awaiting final biopsy results, as they were inconclusive. Additional testing on the sample is needed. Still sleeping on the floor....LOL

Jim, you should feel very good about Lola wanting to play. Trouble is 7 months post op and she still have very minimal desire to play, and there are others who were the same way.
Lola will be fine.

That's terrific news about Lola. What a girl!
You're doing good, Dad, and your instincts are correct. There will be lots of time to play and go crazy. Let that incision heal and help her muscles to get stronger with brief walks. Pretty soon she'll be back to her spunky self in no time, and you'll be sleeping on your own bed too! You'll also look back and go "why was I so worried?"

Way to go Lola! That's the spirit! 5 days closer to healing and feeling so much better! Jim, you'll get off the floor pretty soon. The next step is sleeping on the edge of the bed with one eye open I think it was somewhere in the middle of week three when I slept all night....of course Toffee had been sleeping through the night somewhere in the middle of week one!
It has been 3 weeks since Lolas surgery and she continues to improve daily. She gets her stitches out tomorrow. The seroma she developed finally went down with antibiotics and warm compresses. We ordered a ruffwear harness for her, and are anxious to take her camping next week. She has started to want to run a little and that was great to see. I am finally back in my own bed, and off the floor! I carry Lola upstairs at night and she seems happy to be back upstairs. Thank you all for your support!

Lola is doing so good. I cannot believe how well she is doing. I had her running around the back yard today. It is like the new normal. She is doing so much better than myself. I still want her to slow down but she is not listening. I guess you really cannot keep a great golden down for long. We leave this weekend for a week long vacation. Boy, do I need it. For those of you following this thread, I mentioned that the family is taking Lola camping this weekend. Do not worry too much. My idea of camping is a 31ft motorhome with all the conveniences. Lola will not be roughing it too much!!! I just hope my new harness comes in time. Jerry, I ordered it from your site and I really banking on that is shows up in PA before Saturday.
What a great forum. My absolute favorite. I may not update till I return from vacation but just know Lola is in the best of hands.
Jim and Lola.
You guys have a great vacation. You all deserve it! We'll be here when you get back, and we'll expect pictures too!

Hey Jim, that's our kind of camping too! Sounds like a great time.
Looks like your harness arrived today. Yeaaaaay!
Enjoy your R&R, you both deserve it. Although you may have a hard time making Lola slow down!
