Shelby's been doing great - we went for our pre-dinner walk and she didn't eat anything that I saw (and I watch her pretty closely).

Came back and she was hopping around, doing her "dinner dance" - I went to change into sweats and came back and she was gagging (like she was going to puke). She had already puked twice - little light (not the bright yellow bile one) foams. She kept gagging and I put her in the kitchen and she thought she was in trouble. I rubbed her back and she didn't puke again. She drank some water and I gave her one bite of a cookie to see if she would take it (and she did). I waited about 15 minutes and just gave her dinner. She was super excited to eat her dinner and wolfed it down. Drank a bit of water and is laying on the floor by me.

She seems 100% normal but I can't imagine why she would have vomited unless it was just bile in her belly. She has no spleen (not that you need one anyways). Her cancer is hemangiosarcoma and she has tiny lung mets. She's 2 weeks post last chemo so shouldn't be nauseated. I am trying not to freak her out by babying her but I wanted to post and see if I should worry or maybe this was a fluke thing. I can call her vets and if she pukes again tonight we will go over there but I am hoping it was a one-time thing.

Any thoughts? Random occurrence? Related to her mets? Related to her cancer? I'm going to try NOT to Google stuff because that makes me nutty.

Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. Check this out Alison, it may help pinpoint the issue:

After I posted this, I did do a search (on this site only - not webMd) and found this article. So I called her onco's office and they said, as the article said, that it was probably nothing... probably due to her getting excited pre-dinner if she had consumed a lot of water. Since it was foamy... not a big deal. I'll watch it and if it keeps happening, to the vet she goes!

She's still chillaxin..... I just wish she wouldn't vomit on the carpet and rugs. The kitchen was right there!

Her last chemo was over 2 weeks ago.... she's getting her next one next Thursday so I don't think that is it but with Shelby, who knows! The probiotics have cleared up her pooping issues (she's normal again). I hear her belly gurgle times at night but maybe she always did that... I am guessing she got herself all excited about dinner after drinking a bit of water and up it all came ... on the flipping carpet!!! She's been a snuggle puppy all evening ... if she does it tomorrow, vet city for her!

thank you!

Hi Alison.....just wanted to say that when Polly was having chemo, she vomited between treatments occasionally, and it was always a yellowish color. The chemo itself initially made her vomit constantly till we got it managed completely. Once she was done chemo for good, she never got sick again, except once around Christmas time, but that was a "water/food went down the wrong way" kind of thing.....she ate a bit too quickly. Hope this helps since they both are/were most likely having the same type cancer treatments. If she is eating well and excited about eating, I would say she is doing great.

Sending {{hugs}}

Bonnie & Angel Polly

Thank you for checking on us! 🙂

I think it was what the vet said - she probably drank too much water, did her pre-dinner happy dance and got the juices in her belly flowing! She's eating/acting/being normal today...

however when I went to move the birthday balloons off the flowers and to another side of the room, she had a full on panic attack and right to the bathroom. I really think that is her safe place and when she goes in there, it clearly means she either isn't feel well or she's scared. She went in there for a couple hours last night but slept most of the night on her bed next to my bed and then moved to her other bed in front of the heater.

I think her belly has just been disrupted by all that's been done to her. But she's my fighter girl!
