Hi all,
Well, to say that we're exhausted would be an understatement.
Kona's been dealing with diareaha and a mostly non functioning back half for a couple weeks.
Kona got checked out by a neuro doc too, and they figure pinched nerves or disc issue...suggested bed rest for 2-4 weeks of containment with her tramadol and prednosone.
Ok, so it's almost been two weeks...............little change........we had to get multiple meds added to help cure the poop issues...that's getting better slowly, but better!
Today, we were so LUCKY that our dear friends got their chiropractor (who's also helped many animals over the years...)
anyway, of course they aren't supposed to do this, so it's on the 'down low'....anyway, they treated Kona today at our house and she had 6 areas that were out on her spine !
She felt better immediately! She let out this big sigh.
We have already noticed little bits of movement on her tail and back (remaining) leg !!!
We now really feel that this is going to be so GOOD !
Thankfully, they agreed to do more treatments on our Kona. We feel so fortunate.
Will keep you all posted.
Please hold the good thoughts for our girl.
Thanks everyone

Kona Kai's pup brother and sister as well as her buddy and playmate cat, Shaymous 12yrs (like Seamus), miss her terribly.
That's so wonderful to hear! I hope for better improvement soon! Pinched nerves caused from a herniated disc are incredibly painful speaking from a personal experience.
When Comet had her neck disc issue (infection or blown disc - never did find out) - I took a heating pad with a wet cloth and made her lay under it for an hour. I put folded towels over the pad to put weight on it to stay in place. I also put a fan on her so she didn't get hot. She felt so much better and loved doing it. It may be worth a try to relieve some of spasms.
Hoping for better days ahead for Kona Kai!

Tasha 8 years old, First cancer diagnosis 6/26/09, Last cancer diagnosis 9/26/09, Amputation 10/01/09, Loving our girl moment by moment.
Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
Excellent news! It is amazing how they benefit so much from the same treatments that humans do. They may look different, but the mechanics of their little bodies aren't that different. Sending good thoughts that Kona will get better every day.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

As for diarhhea, Rene posted a topic in the health blog about how to help with the runny poo problem!!! There is a product called Edible Green Calcium Montmorrillonite Clay that helps harden stool. You can buy this online if your vet doesn't have something he/she can prescribe. This is a link to an example of prescription clay. If you need it asap, you can look at your local nutrition store, but make sure that it is the edible kind (of course!).
For more information on edible clay click here.
Glad to hear the chiro sessions are helping! We are hoping the best for Kona!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
That is WONDERFUL news!!! I love to read about alternative treatments working for our pups! Yay!!!! Glad you got a human chiro. to work on Kona! That's great!
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Great news about Kona! You must be so relieved. It's amazing how alternative types of treatments can work so well vs. traditional medicine. We will continue to keep her in our thoughts and prayers and hope that she is now on the road to recovery and feeling better every day. Great update!
Kami, Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Oh that is wonderful! I have been thinking about your pack and really hoping things were getting better. I am such an advocate for alternative medicine, just shows to go ya that can do wonders! Yeaaaaaaay!!!!! Hoppy Dance!!!!
