Vet called this morning after rounds to say Kylie is doing great! She is walking and even getting up onto her 3 legs very well! He said "and she's got quite a good tail wag going on!" 🙂 So she is ready to go home! We left within minutes to do the 2.5hrs to go get her! The greeting was amazing! Watching her walk out and the ears up and big smile & tail wag when she saw us just melted my heart!
I will have to learn how to post pics and video so I can share with all of you who have been following Kylie's journey the last few days! I know it's a long road ahead but we're hopeful and staying optimistic! Next, will be the 7 business's day wait for the pathologist to biopsy the leg, then we'll know what we're dealing with moving forward.
A huge thanks for everyone's advice and support! So far! (You're not done with me yet haha! 😉 Couldn't have stayed sane without u all! Chris & Kylie xo (& Kevin! Though he doesn't post, I do, but he reads & is also very grateful for this site!!)
Welcome home Kylie! Home is the best place to be to heal up and get on with life.
You know the next couple of weeks can be hard so don't get discouraged. Many pups have a bit of a crash when they get home from the hospital so don't be surprised. Some lucky pups sail right through though, hopefully Kylie is one of those.
Stay positive around her, keep in touch with your vet, keep talking to us and soon you will see that sparkle come back!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
WELCOME HOME KYLIE!!!!
We knew you could rock that surgery sweet girl!!
STAY CONNECTED! Recovery is no picnic for a bit. The hospital meds are probably al ost worn off. It takes a little trial and error sometimes getting thr pain meds balanced with doses that work for Kylie.

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
Thanks everyone!! She is doing great! We are so pleased! The fact that she has already been limping for a couple weeks has given her an advantage on getting used to her new tripawd bod!
First her meds are THE SAME as prior to the surgery!? She has metacam once a day and Tramadol 2-3 times a day. 3 times for now, so every 8hrs.
She sleeps and rests a lot (which is great) but when she's up she's herself. Lots of kisses and snuggles. She is eating her food. Drinking lots. We've been out for pee breaks a few times on leash and back in again.
And.... about an hour ago she had a POOP!!
I need to figure out how to upload pics and video asap so I can show u firsthand why we're so proud & amazed!! I know she will have setbacks but for now we're so happy with how things are going, just 48hrs post op!

thanks guys I tried last night but then gave up lol
Will definitely try again this morning after my coffee once ism alert 😉 Rough sleep here. Not with Kylie's pain, just with the unusual sleeping circumstances & being in the living room.
Also, she HATES the cone. Not uncommon I'm sure. So takes a while for her to settle. During the day we don't make her wear it all because she's 100% supervised by one or both of us. (only once has she snuck a few good licks before we caught her) I'm sure its getting itchy or sore by now. But she's doing amazing with walking, its just the wound healing that will take time. She had another poop this morning!! Ok let me work on the pics & vids! stay tuned!
I added a link to your new thread- going to check it out now.
