Question for you guys,
My rear-amputated kitty Mac chews his 'wrists' and sometimes on single rear limb. He started this a few months after his amputation, and recently gave himself a small (single tooth) puncture wound on one wrist. He's only (guessing) 1-3 years old, and has only been three legged for about 6 months. It occasionally looks like he's using his incisors to groom (I know that has a name...), but he does bite on chunks of himself too. Almost taking too big of a bite for it to be solely grooming, and he's kinda rough about it.
I was curious if anyone else had a similar experience with their tripawds, and if they were able to find anything to treat. I'm a vet tech no longer working in clinics (I'm in school) and I know how hard it is to treat feline pain, so I'm wondering if anyone out there has had success (or failure) in helping their kitties along. (or if there's a better forum or link, that's cool too!)

Hi Nerk,
I haven't had a similar experience with my tripawd kitty Mona, who is a front leg amputee. It sounds like something is physically irritating Mac in his wrists. I wonder if there is joint pain from extra stress on the remaining legs. You might want to check it out with the vet. If it's inflamed the vet could prescribe meds.
Did Mac lose his leg from trauma or cancer?
I hope you find an answer with an easy solution.
