AWWWWWWESOME video!  I have watched it 3 times!  Love it!  Way to go Kensington!

She looks so much like my Henri!

Loved seeing her bust out that door, she said, LETZ GO! : )

Hope you make the best choices for Kensington....Henri got pretty sick after his first dose of chemo so I chose to discontinue and try metronomic therapy....If it were me ....I would ask about allllll of the options.

Remember ....its about GOOD days and Quality! : )

Praying for you guys and so glad Kensington was able to come home!

HUGS!

Wendy & Spirit Henri

Heather – I was going to say that both Mackenzie and Kensington could be from the same litter – it's uncanny!

I was going to suggest that for the chemo you may want to look into the metronomic therapy (includes cytoxin + a dirutic like Lasix)  if you consider doing any more chemo. This is what Mackenzie and some other tripawds are on right now following their carboplatin and Jerry was also on the metronomic and has posted great information on this website about it.   It doesn't have any side effects (it's pretty mild) other than needing to watch for UTI's.  But just something to think about once Kensington gets better and stronger.  I'm sure once you reach the point of having to make some decisoins we can all help you figure it out (and of course your vets too!)

I'm just so happy for you that you got to bring your golden girl home!laugh

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

Om my dog - that made me well up!  I'm so excited since a miracle has happened here (I believe it did!).

I can't offer any advice on the chemo.  I just know what I would do after that frightful scare...love on her and be thankful she made it through and not worry about anything else!

WWJD? (What would Jerry do?) He'd be happy to be alive and tell us to forget that chemo business!

What an absolutely awesome video!  You'd never know how sick she has been.  Her smile says it all – take me back to my family!

Holly had 6 rounds of carboplatin chemo, and while she became nauseous and her wbc dropped, she didn't have a serious reaction like Kenzie did.  Holly's now a few weeks into metronomics (she's following in Mackenzie's footsteps), and I must say that she isn't having much of a reaction, if any at all.  We just had her blood retested and the vet said she's doing great!  So you might want to look into metronomics Jerry has great info on this site.

For now, enjoy having your beautiful girl home!  We're so excited for you!

Hugs,

Holly, Zuzu and Susan

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

I don't think it would be possible not to cry at that video, knowing what came before.  It's just totally awesome!  The miracle of healing and then the homecoming...  Happy, happy, happy!

That was an awesome homecoming !! So glad that your golden girl is home where she belongs.

Speaking from my experience with a bad reaction to the 3rd round of chemo - my golden girl Sophie had a bad time and was hospitalized - though nothing as serious as yours !!  - I have decided NOT to do any more chemo. Sophie has rebounded and is her old self again. I am grateful - and feel that we dodged a bullet. We're just "going Dog" - and living moment-to-moment to enjoy every day that we have together. No more drugs (other than the antibiotics she is on) - and whatever she needs to be comfortable when necessary.

I am so, so happy for you that you have your girl home.

"Going Dog" def: living every day in the moment

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."

That video brought both goose bumps and tears. I am so very happy for you all! It reminds me of the day Daisy came home following amputation. We didn't know if we'd be carrying her out or what, and we didn't even think of a video camera, but she was the same--tail wagging, hopping along and couldn't wait to get out the door and to the car. There's nothing quite like seeing a dog smile! way-cool

Daisy, 12 years young, had left forelimb amp on 5/19/2010 due to osteosarcoma. She left her body behind and joined the other spirit tripawds on 7/16/2010.
So grateful for each day with her!
