I'm guessing timeliness isn't important but he was diagnosed about 3 months ago. he was doing great then I noticed he was hot with goop in his eyes. vet said bacterial infection lungs sounded clear and gave him meds. after he was doing great again for a few days then same symptoms. now he just sleeps all day, he can barely get up and only eats because I sit next to him and hold his bowl. I was petting him and noticed when I just squeeze his front legs it's painful for him. now I just got a message he was coughing up a little blood. is the cancer winning or is it the infection. I'm pretty sure I know I just want to make sure.

I'm so sorry to hear he's having such a hard time. Have you seen the vet recently? How long has this been going on? Is he on any meds? Lots of questions, sorry. I'm just trying to get more idea of the situation. Stay connected. We're here for you.

Okay, deep breaths...TRY not to panic...yeah, right!
I also will add to the question list: in your previous post, it appeared he possibly could be having a reaction to the chemo. Did you take him in at that point for white blood count? Did everything checkmout okay? Did you continue chemo? If so, when was last treatment?
The fact that he improved after treatment for the bacterial infecrion is good. Guess he was on antibiotic? How long? It could be he needs a different antibiotic.
Allergies can show up unexpectedly in many different forms. The runny eyes, coughing, etc.
Also, it's possible he has hurt his front legs by doing too much. That, in part,could be a reason for not wanting to walk.
DEFINITELY get him to the Vet. Go ahead have have him check out for sprains, knee or shoulder issues, and xray the lungs. You need to get to the root of these issues and get in a treatment plan.
Are you confident in your Vet?
It could be that a good dose of fluids and some pain meds could do wonders.

Sorry I don't know so much about your dog's history (I'm new here), but I can only offer moral support and chime in on what others have already said in terms of getting him to the vet or consulting with his vet, which you are probably doing all the time(?) Anyway, I wouldn't assume that he's ready to move on - medication can really have less than positive side effects - loss of appetite, lethargy, etc. But the pain response in his leg - that should really get some vet attention as soon as possible, maybe some pain meds.
Don't loose faith in your boy, hope he is doing better soon. Please keep us all posted.

hoppalong is new here but spot on: don't assume the worst. Only your vet can tell you. Please make an urgent care appointment stat, he sounds like he needs help fighting that infection. We'll keep our fingers crossed so let us know what's going on.

Any news?
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.

I hope your guy is ok. I have no real info for you. But I also know how often I sought info from this site, so I wanted to at least answer.
My guy got goopy eyes near the end. And a weird hack-like cough. After poking around here, I found just one other person who cited goopy eyes as a sign before the end. It's not a common symptom. I also found that 'dcjack' had a weird hack for a while and that a vet recommended prednisone. We took Milo in and they gave him prednisone. The hack and eye goop cleared up. But it wasn't much later that he was breathing rough and had a fever. We knew he had lung mets. We knew he had a super aggressive form of osteo. We chose to take him in for the final goodbye. It's been 4 weeks since he crossed the bridge, and part of me still wonders if it was just an infection and maybe we could have done more. The logical part of my brain tells me we couldn't fix him, and we did right by him when he was in pain. The lonely, emotional part of my brain still struggles.
So after much rambling, and no real info for you, I can say that goopy eyes is not usually a symptom, but it might have been for us and one other tripawds member. I see dogs like Dior with symptoms like Milo, but she bounced back. This disease sucks. The uncertainty chews us up. I wish strength and peace for you as you do your best to make the right choices for your boy. That's the best any of us can do.

It must be so tough to deal with this when you are not home. Please lean on others including this site! Let us know asap when you get some feedback from the Vet. I am keeping fingers crossed that it is not as bad as you are thinking!

Hi! I wanted to let you know we are sending positive energy your way! Any news?
We put so much into this fight to beat the cancer and any change in them is so scary. Pre-OSA-if she slept all day or twitched in her sleep, I didn't think twice. Now everything big and small puts on a roller coaster of emotions.
Hows he doing today?
