I am checking in here as much as I can, and I am still hoping this is just a bump in the road for sweet Marshall. I know so well, as does most everyone here, that these situations with our beloved Tripawds completely wrenches our hearts out of our bodies.....especially when you start to feel helpless, and hopeless. However, I will keep praying and hoping for Marshall, but one way or another, we will all be here to help you through this no matter what.
Keeping you and your family, and dear, sweet Marshall in my thoughts and prayers,
Bonnie and Angel Polly
I love this news about Marshall. Thank you. We really needed that tonight!

Yay Marshall, Greeting your Mama at the door! Way to go! I hope he keeps feeling better and better! Lori, Ty and the Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I'm so happy to be reading this right now Marshall is being a great example of the ups and downs...good and less good days! Yep! One day at a time and day by day! Welcome to the new "normal"! *
At least now you know you have some quality time coming your way..even with a few bumls, and that's okay.
GREETINGNYOU AT THE DOOR! Isn't that THE best feeling in the world?! Keel those splendid greetings coming sweet boy!
Hugs and love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
He had a really good night!! It's crazy how something that normally would have made me a little mad when I was coming in with arms full of grocery bags normally actually made my entire night. I was never a fan of being ambushed at the door when carrying things but that put the biggest smile on my face. Disclaimer I never gotten mad at marshall for greeting me when I was carrying things I would get mad at my husband for not putting him in his crate so I could get through the door.
YAY! Ambush away Marshall! You rule the world!!!
P.S. You're right, it's ALWAYS the hubby's fault

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Hi marshallsmom13! I'm new to the group and actually just posted relating to prednisone ("Mystery hind leg pain for front Tripawd - Need help to wean off prednisone").
Marshall is adorable and I'm so glad he's feeling better. I agree with everyone that maybe the abrupt stopping of the prednisone might have caused him to feel down. Prednisone can be like a miracle drug...it took my Tyson from excruciating pain to normal in 1.5-2 days. However, in our case, the side effects are starting to outweigh the benefit. (Or at least we think, who knows, this journey has been trial and error, experimenting, and learning along the way...)
After 1.5 months or so on pred, his head muscles atrophied to the point where the areas above and below his eyes are sunken and the bone on top protrudes. He has a shrinking head on a big boy body now. I'm a member of another group and one of their vets refers to the symptom as "Pred Head". With respect to the panting, it's caused by the pred and it meant one of 3 things for my boy: 1) He was hot 2) He was thirsty 3) He needed to urinate. Usually the third. Even when he didn't show signs of needing to go outside, the panting would usually subside after I let him out. He would average almost every 3-4 hours...full, strong stream every time. NSAIDs and corticosteroids (which Pred is) can also cause liver issues and stomach ulcers. (All in our case). I don't know if Marshall will be on it long term or for what reason but it might be a good idea to go ahead and ask your vet if Marshall might need supplements (milk thistle, etc) or diet changes to prevent possible issues.
I don't mean to be a downer after such a happy thread but I just wanted to share my experience and pass on information that I wish someone would have shared with me. My boy is older and probably has more of a compromised system than your baby, but better safe than sorry! Good luck and I hope to continue reading more positive updates!
