Hi all,

This morning we had to go to the vet for the first lung xrays. From saturday it looked like Chef was slowing down all of a sudden. He lied down pretty fast and puked a few times without any reason. Today when i put him in the back of the car he coughed… omg i thought did he just cough??

When they called us in they took Chef to take the xrays, i had to wait… Within 5min the vet came back in and asked me to come over to have a look at the xrays. From that moment i knew it couldn’t be any good news….

I looked at the xrays and WOW the lungs were totally full! cancer everywhere… what the hell?!?

Our big guy fought so hard for nothing? This world is so freaking hard! I wish i could have written about his 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 month ampuversary but we can’t.

The lungs look so bad that the vet thinks we have to put him down for the end of te week. He is still happy and eats good, but i think we have to put him down like this. I don’t want him to get more sick and see him suffer. Better for him to pass when he is still ejoying life and for us to remember him not being so sick he can’t do anything.

Oh my god i am crying so hard right now! My big friend has to go trough all of this shit! Life is not fair!

I just don’t know anymore…. what a mess!

Oh Jamilla, I can't believe it either, my heart just sank when I read your update, I'm so very, very sorry. I wish it had turned out different, this is so awful.

Only you know Chef better than anyone else, you unfortunately have to make that decision to set his spirit free but do it when you know in your heart the time is right. Nobody wants their hero to suffer so your instinct is the best way to go.

This is so unfair. I'm so sorry. I know that for however short of a time we have our animal heroes in our life, they came to us for a reason. Chef came to you with many gifts that the universe thought you needed; it's those gifts, those lessons he taught you, that will always live on.

Oh my gosh, I'm so so sorry it's turning this way.  You're right, it stinks, it sucks it's totally unfair.  Damn.  Jerry's right, you will know in your heart when it's time to let go.  You gave Chef all you could and he knows that.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I'm so sorry.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

I don't even know you or Chef at all, other than chats and posts here, but I feel like someone just reached in and ripped my heart out....I am so very sorry.....I don't even know what to say other than you have been the best mom to a wonderful dog, and gave him the best chance you possibly could. We all do what we can for our beloved pets, but this is the worst part of it all.
Thinking of you and your handsome boy........we all do the right things by them, always.

My heart aches for you ... you are an amazing mom and I know you have done all that you can for Chuck. There are no words that can help right now so I'll just offer my love and strength to you in your time of sadness. I am so sorry for your pain.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Jamilla, one more thing: treasure every moment you have left together and remember that Chef doesn't know anything is different right now. It's SO hard, but remind yourself that there will be plenty of time for tears later. You are an awesome pawrent, I know you can be strong for him.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
