It has been three and a half weeks since Baileys amputation and she is doing fantastic. BUT, I was petting her last night and right near her chest/ribs I felt a pea sized lump. I am freaking out and don't go back to see the vet until Monday. Could this be the cancer spread before the amputation, I am really hoping it is a fatty cist but of course I am expecting the worst :(

I understand the fear of finding a lump. I don't know what kind of cancer Bailey had that led to her amputation and I know nothing about lumps but I know stressing is not good for us. Try to stay calm until Monday (easier said than done). If it turns out the lump is insignificant perhaps you could ask the vet what kind of lumps (size, shape, feel) you should be concerned about so you know for the future.

I was told to feel all over Mona every day for lumps. I panicked when I found one recently in her remaining front leg. I was sleepy when I felt it in bed and immediately went to the worst place in my mind. By the time I got out of bed I decided to not amputate the remaining front leg and would do palliative care. I looked closer at the lump to try to get a photo. Funny it looked like her paw pads... Duuhhh, it was her carpal padexclamationaw-shucks

Please don't be like me. Let it go for the weekend, have fun with Bailey, and then deal with it on Monday.

I know it's so easy to jump immediately to the worst conclusions...especially after dealing with cancer.  You've got an apt on Monday and that's not that far off.  Try to calm down a little...have a some chocolate, a little wine (or beer) and enjoy being with Bailey.  She's not worried about some lump at the moment.  She's just living life and loving her pack!

Just hang in there...Monday will be here soon!

BAILEY!!! First of all glad to hear you are doing so well!!!

As Kerren has just shown you by her sheer panic of discovering MONA's PAW ...yes...her PAW PAD...this journey turns us into instant hypochondriacs on behalf of our pets!!!!!!

One pawrent rushed her pup to the vet one morning in a sheer panic. The dog woke up not being avle to stand on o e of the remaining legs. By the time she got to the vet, he was walking just fine! The vet determined the dog's leg had merely gone to sleep!!

Dogs get lumps and bumps all the time and almost always they are nothing to worry about. But this journey makes you a crazy worry wart like no other!!!

I agree with Mona, try and relax and enjoy the week end. Bailey is doing just fine...and will continue to do so!!!clap

And grab that chocolate candy bar a d devour it!!!!!

Hugs!

Ok, breathe, relax. You are PAWESOME for being so vigilant and chances are it's nothing to worry about. Here's a video that just came out, it can offer some insight and hopefully help you stay calm until Monday.

Great inf l. Kerren! And great video Jerry!

Geez! I'd forgotten about the controversy surrounding microchips. Frankie came to me from the shelter with a microchip. Imw sure he's already been waaaay over vaccinated from be i ng in the shelter and lrobavly neutered waaaay to soon. Plus, not sure why his leg was amputated.

Gonna check jnto getting that microchip removed. Gonna be Gorilla Gluing his collar to himclown
