This response is a little late to help you out much, but I went through the same conflict you did making the chemo decision. Our vet was very much in favor as Trouble's tumor was contained. He thought it offered her the best option for long term remission.
He and my husband finally convinced me to do just one treatment and see what the side effects were. If I thought it wasn't worth it at that point we would stop.
Trouble had 5 rounds of carboplatin, had minimal side effects, and lived 27 1/2 months cancer free. I am all supportive of early diagnosis and early treatment for giving those extra quality months if it is an option for you personally.
