I know it's hard to believe, but 5 weeks has passed and Happy finished his radiation treatments! We are home and in our own beds now…ahhh..he'll have a check-up in two weeks to check for any side effects, but hopefully all will be fine. The only thing I notice and get concerned about is his back legs operate a little stiffly, like he hops them along rather than a normal gait. So, we'll see if he loosens up over the next couple of weeks of increased exercise and getting off the anesthesia completely. Here's a pic at what I suspect was his goodbye party with the girls who took such great care of him when he was there!

"Yaaay! I'm done!" he is saying.

I'm sure he's just stiff from having to lay around all the time. I hope he's back to normal in no time. What a relief, congrats on overcoming this chapter. You did it!

Oh! Wonderful news!! superstarYay Happy!!superstar  What a special boy - actually he is very special to us as Lylee's Monkeybutt bro is called Happy and Lylee's previous bro was a fabulous BC, Zeb, who always had a party ethic rather than the usual work ethic of most BC's!

So your Happy is a seriously cool Tripawd pup!!

So great he is home and hopefully his hind legs will loosen up soon

Sending hugs and wags

Joanne & Lylee

Yea for being home, and super duper yea for being done with treatment!!!!
I hope a few days home and a more normal routine get Happy loosened up.
I love the places that take such good care of our pups- I still have a picture the vet techs took with Maggie after she finished her chemo.

What a GREAT smile, Happy clearly couldn't be happier to be going home.  Congratulations on completing 5 grueling weeks of radiation-- you are super troopers!  Enjoy sleeping in your own beds; you've earned the rest!

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011

Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011.  Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs.  If love alone could have saved you…

I know I have said this before, but I'll say it again -- you are one handsome boy!  I'm so happy you are home and done with the radiation.  Keep rockin'!

Such a pretty boy!!  Coming home is definitely something to smile about!!  Congratulations and we hope the check-up goes well.  Now... go get some real sleep in your own beds!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

OMD, he is SO cute!!! So glad to hear he is done and home again. Hooray! Treats for everypawdy to celebrate!

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Lucy's front right leg was amputated 12/19/11. Thankfully there was no tumor, but her nerves were found to be degenerative.  Life as a tripawd is Lucy's new adventure!!

I replied during my lunch break last time and was in a time-bind, but I wanted to address your comment about being concerned with Happy's gait.  Zeus is a front leg amp, and he also hopped with his hind legs a bit at first.  After about a month, it kinda worked itself out and his hind legs began walking instead of hopping.  I think it just takes their body time to figure it all out.  Also, Zeus 'tweaked' his back about one week after amp and was a bit stiff from that which may very well have played a part in his walking.  So, you may be right that Happy is just a bit stiff from the limited activity.  Hopefully it will click for him soon!
