Well boy do I have good news 🙂 I'm doing a happy dance all over my house.
2 weeks after his front leg amputation, Gatsby had his pathology results come through yesterday. It wasn't an osteo sarcoma as presumed. It was a localised fibro sarcoma with a very low spread rate... so no chemo for Gatsby!
Gatsby is up, he's running, walking,. sitting, standing, eating... and after 2 weeks is back to his cheeky self.
Has it been an easy 2 weeks?
NO. NO. NO.
seroma fluid by the bucket load. (literally HUGE amounts)
Bleeds. Small but messy as.
More fluid. More fluid and more fluid.
Changes of blankets and sheets and towels every day. Washing machine going non stop. Dryer going non stop. Puppy pads. Mess.
However, then all of a sudden it all stopped and the stitches were out and he was back to being Gatsby... a much lighter Gatsby weighing in at 142 pounds! Down from 180.
I cannot thank everyone enough. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't stop crying. I was overwhelmed and it was this site that gave me the courage to amputate that leg. I'm so glad I did.
Gatsby's pics are on facebook, including his first walk outside.
Once you get through the awful two weeks, it GETS BETTER. So hang in everyone. Love to all of you
