Storm had his first lot of chemo yesterday. The onco vet was really pleased with his mobility and overall fitness and his bloods were all within the acceptable range so she didn't repeat the lung x-ray (was clear three weeks ago and I said if the treatment would be the same then it didn't seem worth sedating him again and she agreed).
He seems to be coping well and has eaten his breakfast this morning so I haven't given him any more nausea medication (had one yesterday when we got home as per vet recommendation) and no diarrhea as yet. He seems a little bit quiet but that's to be expected, it didn't stop him begging for a walk this morning though which he didn't get because I was late for work.
Blood tests in 10 days to check his immunity and adjust the chemo if necessary on his next visit in three weeks. The next climb of the rollercoaster begins.
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR STORM!!! Sailing through round one! Storm was probably just tired from the excitement of the day more so than the treatment itself.
So post pictures of him when you can. His avatar picture is so cute...it leaves us begging for more!
And how did Storm become named Storm?
Ice cream to celebrate first round done!!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Glad to hear his first chemo was un eventful....Nitro really had no problems either, other than spreading them out a little more so his white blood count could bounce back. Towards the last dose he got a little nauseous, but meds took care of that. Even now, after all he's been through, he still loves going to the vet's.....course they treat him like he's a rock star, so who can blame him!
Paula and Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
"Be good, mama loves you".....run free my beautiful Warrior
Woot! Woot! That's great to hear! We hope that the rest of the treatments are as uneventful.

Okay Sally, I'm going to try to add some photos but don't hold your breath as it might not work!! I only have a video of him as a tripaw that I have to work out how to get off of my phone so these will all be of him with a full complement of limbs.
No real story behind his name, he had it when we rescued him and chose to keep it. it doesn't reflect his personality in any way but his coat does rather look like a cloudy stormy sky.
" width="43" height="30" /> " /> " />Fingers crossed that it works
Yaaaay it worked! Love love love those photos, what a gorgeous, stately pup.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
