Slow and steady wins the race!
Lots of energy this morning out to poop and pee and then sat down. I had to carry her back into the house. I am starting a pool to guess the date my back will go out!
Here are a few pics of her One week ampuversary and one other that I forgot to share before of Etta & Nurse Chloe!
Our angel "Etta" amputation on 4-15-10 lost her front limb. initially dx'd with neurofibrosarcoma. However, after surgery they discovered histiocytic sarcoma a very aggressive cancer. After two full rounds of chemo our special angel lost her battle on 6-21-10. the sweetest and most gentle soul. Our lives are forever blessed for having known her...
A few things are very clear from your posting. Etta is one gorgeous companion. We just need to see more of those smiling photos. The other thing is that your attitude is doing very well. Humor is always welcome if not down right necessary to keep your sanity as you go forward along this journey. You are right that improvements, no matter how small, are IMPROVEMENTS, and should be greeted with glee. One week down, the first of those ampuversaries, and there will be plenty more.
Thanks for the smiles, but for now we will keep Etta in our thoughts and prayers. Heck, I really do not think that there is a time limit on how long. We will just keep an open slot in the schedule for all the foreseeable future. OK?
Spirit Cherry's Dad
Awe, she looks like a happy girl, relaxed, comfortable, it doesn't get any better than that. She will gain her strength, just give her time. They don't know that they should only go 1/2 way becuase they have to go just as far back ;0. Trouble had the same problem. Can't tell you how many times Trouble went out and did the same thing. I never tried to carry her in, just sat out with her and waited for her to get rested enough to make it back to the house.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
oh my gosh that is so funny.....first she is beautiful...and so is her nurse. You'll notice from my sig. I also have a 17 year old cat who has kidney failure and I am treating that and various other things with sub q fluids, shots, pills, spoon feeding...little things like that and he sleeps with me (naturally). While Magic was confined to insiide the house, I had no idea when he wanted to pee...I've had a pet door for almost 40 years...so I would take him at various times down the hall and outside to pee...OJ would get himself up, walk with us down the hall, stopping if Magic needed to stop, continuing on outside and sitting on the patio waiting then reverse the procedure and back to bed and back to sleep. Every time. Isn't it wonderful to have a kitty and doggie that love each other!!!!!
Oh she's so sweet!! That's a big lump of loving you have to carry into the house, and even if your back is protesting, I'll bet she's really liking it.

What loves and what a beautiful girl you have! Her face makes me just want to give her lots of kisses, which I'm sure you do all the time (which I do all the time to Mackenzie). She does look like Mackenzie :). What area are you from in LA? Maybe we can have one of our own tripawd pawties one of these days when Etta gets through her recovery. I'm sure our girls would love to meet each other. Hope that Etta continues doing well - looks like the worst is behind you now. And hopefully your back will hold up too!! Keeping our paws crossed for a smooth and speedy recovery!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!

That would be great!!! I will pm you with my info. Etta and I will work on that as a goal... Right now the pawty would have to be on my front porch....; > thats the extent of her travels!

Just look how far she's come in only a week!! She looks great! What a difference between the pink-bandage photo and the t-shirt ones.
I did the same as Shanna--just waited for Cemil to have enough strength to get back in the house on his own. That worked pretty well (plus, he outweighs me so I didn't really have a choice).
I bet if the improvement continues at this rate, she'll be playing by her 2-week ampuversary. Looking forward to pictures!

Big Update: Etta went through the doggie door today!
I think we have really turned a big corner. She went up and down the steps in the backyard roamed around her yard, ate grass and tried to dig with her front paw in her old spots. She took a few short naps along the way but eventually made it back up on the deck and in through the doggie door. It was all very organic an unexpected. In fact, I had another door open for her to go in but she chose the doggie door.
Just had to share the good news!
