Sorry I can't change the subject ...

We took care of that for you. Sounds like Ellie is doing as well as can be expected right now. Best wishes for a complete speedy recovery!

Once she has recovered, consider starting a new topic in the Share Your Story forum or use Ellie's blog to document her progress.

Bo never became a "morning dog" again after surgery. He just took his sweet time getting around and we were ok with that (most of the time)! Looks like Ellie is doing well. I definitely agree with keeping a journal of meds/food/activity for the first couple of weeks. It was extremely helpful to us and our vet when it came time to adjust meds and whatnot.

Thanks for keeping us posted! We love all of the pictures!!

Hi Reid,

I want to second (or third) the idea of a journal or log.  I don't remember if you are doing chemo or not.  I kept two logs for Maggie.  One after the surgery and all the way through chemo.  I logged food and water intake, energy level, pees and poops, and temperature when I took it (looking for infection during chemo).  I found it hugely helpful to see her patterns after chemo treatments, and determine her new normal activity level.  I kept another log later for her when we were dealing with other health issues.

I hope Ellie is continuing to heal uneventfully.

Hey Ellie welcome to the club.  I'm partial to black and white dogs.  I think you'll find Ellie will be back on her feat in no time.  My tripawd Kess won 2nd place expert overall at the WA state canine disc championship this year so Ellies disc catching days are far from over!  Here's a video of Kess I made recently, it include agility, disc, and flyball.  We're hoping to try out dock diving next summer.
