okay, so... I’ve debated asking this question, because just thinking about this makes me feel like”that crazy owner.”
Colt has always had pink skin underneath his fur. The areas that were shaved and growing fur back are turning kind of black in color. Has anyone seen this before? Is it normal?
it is very obvious on his penis sheath where the surgery side is a deep purplish/red/black and the other side is still a light pink.
i so have an email to my vet, but I figured I could see if anyone knows if i should actually be concerned.
Oh there is a name for that, hyperpigmentation I believe. I've been told by our vet that on our Wyatt Ray it is a normal part of his aging. We've watched his belly and groin areas darken over time. But there are other causes sometimes. It's probably nothing but you did good by asking your vet. This "Skin Discoloration in Dogs" article by VetInfo is a good one that describes potential issues. Try not to let your mind run wild by googling it!
And NO you are not the crazy owner. It's called being a good advocate for Colt!
