Yes the cold laser therapy is part of the amputation care package my vet put together. It includes three treatments on the stitching area. They did the first treatment the day after the surgery. His next treatment will be tomorrow and then the last treatment will be 5 days later. Our vet said that the treatment theoretically helps with healing and mitigating pain at the incision area. I don't know how effective it is but it doesn't hurt him and the cost of the laser treatment was peanuts in the grand scheme of things so I wasn't going to start piecemealing their recommended treatments.Â
Yah I was surprised that he didn't get the gabapentin but the vet seemed confident that the tram ado would keep the orchids away. So far so good. He has been very comfortable.
Yep, we've heard a lot about cold laser for wound management, just haven't had time to cover it here but would love to at some point. Or.....someone could write a guest blog post about their experience 😉
Glad it's working and all is well!

Wondering how Cash is doing!?
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. Â His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
