Hi, Bailey has had 2 of 6 rounds of Carboplatin so far 3 weeks apart. The next round would be on August 3rd, when we have planned to have Bailey on a road trip in Oregon. There is a lot of information on not finishing regimens etc (we fully plan for her to finish all 6), I am just wondering what thoughts are on finding a vet in Oregon would be vs delaying one week? Thank You!

Loving Bailey's avatar picture! What a sweetie!

Okay, I am no vet and discuss with your vet. However, often times a chemo treatment is delayed a week, or even two, due to low WBC or some delay due to family emergencies, etc. So, it does happen and it is not unusual. Again, not a vet and get a vet's opinion, but waiting until you came back should not be a problem! Make your Oregon trip be a "vet free, needle free" vacation!!

Have a great trip and enjoy just being in the moment with Bailey!

Can't wait to see pictures from your road trip!

Hugs to all!

You take such great care of Bailey!

I'd agree with Sally. Waiting a week isn't going to be that big of a deal. In fact we discussed this very topic last month here in Tripawd Talk Radio, listen for the question about delaying treatment during the show, Dr. Shaw addresses it for us.

If your vet agrees I say, go have fun and then return to your normal routine.

Thanks for the help! We talked with our vet as well and he agrees. We will go out and enjoy a vet-free road trip and be sure to share lots of tripawd adventures with everyone!
