Thanks to everyone who helped me find the courage to go ahead with he amputation. Oscar went in on Tuesday last week and the tumour had grown 4cm in 2 weeks so absolutely the right thing. We have had him home for 4 days and he is a proper little trooper. He gets really tired after a 10 minute walk but is already trying to run! (Tbf I think 10 mins of 1 legged squats would send me to the sofa!) He had his whole leg removed due to the height of the tumour and he is such a muscly dog so it was a 6 hour surgery and he is bound to be sore for a while, we have slept downstairs with him and he keeps just standing and staring at the door in the middle of the night but when we take him outside he just stands enjoying the breeze whilst I freeze! Can't grumble though he seems a happy doggy. Thanks again to everyone, I would post pics but can't figure out how to do it on my phone.
Chemo starts next week 😕 fingers crossed it doesn't make him feel rubbish.

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR OSCAR!!! 
So glad things went welll with the surgery. Having Oscar home and on the mend is such a relief! Six hours??? OWWEEE!
What pain meds is he on. Most dogs here are sent home with Tramadol, Gabapentin, Rimadyl and an antibiotic.
My Happy Hannah was very restless for many days and nights. I kept working adjusting her lain meds (with the vet). Major surgery hurts!
Dogs seem to gravitate to the cold after surgery as that seems to feel good on there surgery area.
For now, just iut to potty and right back in to rest.
Stay connected....try and get some rest yourself...and keep us posted! Once recovery takes place and you see Oscar's sparkle come back you will be amazed at how he gets on with living life to the fullest!

Awww what a great update! So happy to hear Oscar is doing well and feeling so strong! That's really great!
To avoid any problems with a seroma or stitches issue, keep in mind that 10 minutes is an ideal amount of walking time for a fit, healed up Tripawd who is at least a month or more post-op. Right now, as active as he wants to be, Oscar should only be doing leashed potty walks of a couple of minutes. You'll both be so glad when those stitches come out, then he can do the happy dance! Once his incision is healed is a good time to start building up strength. See our Tripawds Gear blog and e-book, Loving Life On Three Legs , for lots of tips about staying fit and injury-free.

Thanks for the great update! Aren't Our furfaces remarkable in what they can overcome and how they just go on day by day in happy doggie fashion? It amazes me. So glad Oscar is rocking recovery!

We are on about the same timing of surgery, and I'm glad to hear that Oscar is doing well! I'll be watching for your posts to compare notes. I know all dogs are different, but it's nice to see someone who is exactly the same timing as us. Keep resting, Oscar!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.
