Hi, my dog recently had a pyometra removal. I first noticed something wrong when I seen her after she finished peeing going into what seemed like contraction-like motions which made her vocal and I could tell she was in pain. The doctor confirmed the pyometra and she went into emergency surgery that same day. I have her back now and on the first night she pee'd twice. The second time having the cramps again. Today she did the same thing, pee'd twice, the second time having cramps. Mind you this is after her uterus was removed. I figured the contractions were her bodys way of trying to force the infection out of her. I'm not sure why it's still happening afterwords. I plan on phoning the vet first thing in the morning but was wondering if I could get some insight here. any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Fidd, thanks for joining. I hope you don't mind but I deleted your duplicate post when you posted as a guest.

I'm not familiar with this type of recovery but I'm going to be someone here is. The best thing I can tell you is to get her to the clinic as soon as possible so they can figure out what this is, and how to help her feel better, quickly.

I hope you get some answers from the vet and your pup is on the road to good health soon. Best wishes to you both.

Yes, I'm new and didn't understand the site at first, but thanks for the welcome and good wishes. Hopefully the vet will at least give her some pain medication tomorrow to make her more comfortable.

Good for you for getting her to the Vet as soon as you did.

Yes, do get back to the Vet as soon as you can.  What kind of pain meds is she on now?   Antibiotics?  Any fever?  This is not an easy surgery and she needs her pain managed.

Check back in with is once you get her rechecked, okay?

We'll be sending pawsitive energy your way!
