trying to get a firm grip on cystitis.
Dr. Ettinger prefers every other day of metronomics to reduce the chance of cystitis.
I see rates of 10-20% mentioned.. and I see it is more common in female dogs?
I read lasix can be used to reduce the chance to 2% which sounds pretty low...
thoughts?
Yes, it tends to happen more in female dogs, just like urinary tract infections in general.
For a while oncologists were prescribing cytoxan every day but it seems like they've backed off to the previous method of administering it every other day, for the exact reasons Dr. Sue mentions. Our Jerry took his every other day and he had no side effects.
I've heard of some people using Lasix but I can't recall anyone using it recently. Maybe someone who has experience with it will chime in.
