Everyone has been so nice and encouraging during my down moment I wanted to be sure to share the victories. I just woke up...Finn was in his usual spot beside me... I said Good morning baby and in response I got my first BIG HAPPY TAIL WAG!!!!! I made my coffee and we all went out to go potty. Finn followed us out, did his business and then took a rest, enjoying the smells ( I could tell he was really enjoying). We all came in...had our cookie and as easy as you please he went over to his bowl and had a good long drink...the first that I didn't deliver to him on the floor and force him to take... all on his own, STANDING AT HIS DISH!

Great News for Finn! I remember just stressing about EVERYTHING like drinking, eating, poo and pee and just wanted my little tripawd to do things like she used to and it took a while before she got back to doing all those things. She eventually did all those things again on her own but now they are done at a different pace. So I have had to learn that her normal now is new and I need to adjust to her and stop stressing so much on what she used to do and forget about that old schedule. I hope that makes sense.
I think you enjoying that a small thing like him coming in and getting a drink on her own makes you feel so good you understand what I am talking about. Enjoy your pup and these small steps to him finding his new normal. He is a beautiful dog by the way.

YESSSSSS! That is wonderful to read about. The most ordinary things can be the most extraordinary if we just take time to be present and pay attention. Dogs are masters of this skill, and now you're getting there too. Congratulations on being more dog!

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end.
