Awe such a sense of relief when you get that call that surgery is over and everything went well.  Try and get a good nights sleep tonight so you can stay strong for Chet.  Tomorrow brings a new adventure.  Let us know how we can help you.

Thanks again for the encouragement.  Vet says Chet is doing well -- comes home in the morning.  I can't wait to get him home and we'll start on our new adventure.  I am sure I will be back with questions and asking for suggestions.  You have all helped so much to get me through today.

Try and get some rest! You may not get much sleep for a few days! Chet is enjoying riding his pink elephants tonight...tomorrow...maybe not as thrilled about it all! 🙂

Thank you all so much for your encouragement throughout the day yesterday.  Chet comes home in three hours.  Any suggestions or advice or things to watch for and be aware of in the first few days post-op?

p.s. wait until you see him on all 3!

As Donna said in an earlier post stay on top of giving the medication to keep Chet out of pain.  Playing catchup is no fun.  I'm sure you've already got your house ready for him with a confined area for him to recoup and runners on any areas that aren't carpeted for traction for Chet.  Dr will give you info when you pick him up and probably some written instructions.  Try to stay relaxed and calm Chet will look to you for guidance if you panic so will he.  Don't worry Mama you can do this and we'll be right here for you!  This is indeed an intense journey but so worth it to see our dogs out of pain and loving life again.  Chet will amaze you with his resiliency!

Hugs

Thanks for the suggestions.  One day home, it's been amazing, and a little challenging.  I was amazed to see him hop right out with the vet tech to meet us when we went to pick him up.  He is doing great all in all.  of course he is trying to figure things out but I thought it might be worse.  I am sure there are plenty of challenges ahead.  I appreciate all the support and advice.  He is doing great. My heart hurts a bit watching him but I am so proud of him too.  Thanks guys.

Christy that is GREAT news! You have such a fantastic attitude, I love it. And yep, we all know what that heartache feels like, but when this is recovery all over you'll be so overjoyed at his strength and courage, that ache will be a thing of the past. YAY Chet!

No licking, a little restless, appetite is off a bit - whining?  That is me ... not chet.

Thank you for the Hugs and a good laugh this morning.  I love the support and humor is essential!!

Chet keeps showing us traits that I envy.  Determination, loving life and going forward with a lick for his family and a wagging tail.  He wants to just get back to doing what he does.  Is still working on adjusting, of course, kicking back taking it easy during the recovery - wait don't know if that Chet or me.

Thanks again for the support.  We look at one moment at a time and not worry about what's around the corner.

Hugs to all the amazing Tripawds and the community

Chocolate helps for the whining... for you not Chet!

Glad to see your boy is home and on the mend.  You might have a challenging few days, or Chet might be one of the lucky pups that seem to sail right through recovery.

Hope Chet has the 'sail through' type of recovery, but either way your boy is already an inspiration!

So glad Chet is doing well, it is such a relief when you finally get them home.  I think the hardest thing for me is that I want to help Patchy all the time and that is not what he wants.  They are so resilient and want to do everything just as they did before on their own.  It makes tears well up in your eyes to see them accomplish little things that were not difficult before.

Live in the moment with lots of love and kisses for them cause that is what they are doing.  This morning Patchy did something he hasn't done in weeks and I just had to turn away and let the tears fall.  He loves to snuggle Kevin by going between Kevin's legs when he is just standing there, he hopped over to Kevin and nuzzled his way in this morning 🙂  Those are the things you live for!

HURRAYS to Patchy!!!  So amazing how amazing they are.

That is exactly how it is - you want to help them but they don't see that they need any help.  So I try to stand by holding my breath with every thing he does.

No problem with the pooping - Chet, not me - well, wait a minute....maybe we better not go there!!

I can see that deranged and whacko can get you a long ways on this journey!!  Thanks for that!

Hugs back to everyone and the amazing Tripawds!!
