Chemo cost.. Does this seem normal?

Here in New Jersey, where everything is top dollar, the Carbo for a 70 lb dog was $890 per treatment, cheaper at the 5 treatment rate of $4450.00.  The other chemo (Adriamycin) was much cheaper @$470 per and $2350 for 5 treatments.  The Oncologists protocol is to administer 3 treatments of each drug.  This rate included all the normal tests and blood work, however all the ancillary medications that may be needed would be additionally charged.  I checked rates in South Florida and they were basically the same.  Unfortunately for us costs were too prohibitive to participate.  We are currently concentrating on Alexei's cancer diet (starving the mets) and alternative treatment with Artemisinin ...

I also was given the 'rough' quote of $700-800 per treatment.  I opted not to go this route though.
