The doctor released Cemil this afternoon and I brought him home.  Everything seems to be going well.  I let him rest for awhile before letting the other dogs say hello to him; at first he growled at them lightly, but then he allowed Alle the lab (nurse Alle who is 14 years old and lives to take care of others) to sniff, then the other two, one at a time.  Even wagged his tail when they respected him and didn't try to get rough.  He got onto the bed, where he normally sleeps--I'll worry about helping him down in the morning.  Right now, he doesn't want to budge.  Sounds huge, but he's taller than the bed, so it was more like a big step up, not a jump.  Everyone is glad to have him home and the family back to together again.  Dogs must appreciate that as much as people do.

I was nervous about how he was going to do getting out of the truck, but the steps I had made worked beautifully.  He didn't have any trouble at all, and didn't need any help from me, even though I was there and ready.  The steps are two sort of boxes, 30" x 36", one 10" high and the other 20" high.  (He's 30" high.)  So, from the tailgate, he stepped down to the taller one and walked forward, level, then stepped down to the shorter one, got level again, then stepped down to the floor.  It worked great.

So glad Cemil is home and doing well.  That was a great idea with the steps.  Hoping for an easy recovery for both of you.
