Bree is overall doing great! She's 4 days post amp, and since the evening we brought her home, she's been eating regularly just as before, she's doing great walking, so far no stumbles or falls. The incision area appears to be healing very well. She's alert, and enjoying her chew toys and dog treats, and resting fairly well. 
I do have one concern I'm hoping people here can help with...What can I do to help her with her pain when she's in the hours between taking her meds. The vet prescribed an antibiotic, Novox for inflamation, Gabapentin for pain, and Tramadol for pain. She's really good about taking her meds, but she still seems to be struggling with pain between doses. That seems to be happening more now than it did the first couple of days. Any thoughts on how I can help her with this?? Thanks!!!

Hi Tanya and Bree! So glad Bree is handling recovery like a champ...and so are you!
A lot of times dogs feel "better" ,the first couple of days of recovery because the hospital meds are still in their system. Now that you're at the point where they are out of his system, you may have to tweak the dosing times a little bit. Give your vet a call, let him know how many hours in between doses where Bee starts ro show signs of discomfort. Most likely, he will lessen the hours in between. Let your vet guide you on this, okay?
Keep us ppsted. This recovery stuff doesn't last forever...just feels like it!! Get some rest while you can! Getting to tnis poi t is pretty darn exhausting emotionally and physically. When Bree's sparkle co es back bigger and brighter than before, it'll all be worth it!

How often are the meds prescribed? Do you give the gaba and the tram at the same time?
One idea, without changing the amount given, is to alternate the pain med schedule. For example: if you give tram and gaba every 8 hours then give the tram at 8 am, then the gaba at 12 pm. That way Bree is only going 4 hours between doses of something.
Another idea is to change the dose schedule so that the meds are given more often. That would increase the dose unless you cut back on the amount given each time.
If she is struggling between doses then I think she might need more pain meds. Be sure she is resting and not doing too much.
No matter what you do talk to your vet so they know what is going on.
I'm glad to hear how well Bree is doing overall!

The meds are prescribed Tram twice a day, and Gaba 2-3 times a day. I started out the first couple days giving them to her together morning and night with the Gaba once in the afternoon. Since the pain seems to be more frequent, yesterday and today I've been splitting the pain meds. So early morning she gets the gaba, then tram, then gaba, then at bedtime the tram and gaba together to get her through the night. I can't be certain, but it seems like some of the new pain is phantom pain . She will be resting, then I see the muscles in her hip start moving/jerking, then she gets up all of a sudden and seems pretty agitated, and restless, then calms down again after a few minutes.
