We just wanted to check in with everyone. I hope you are all doing well 
It has been a little over a month since we found out that the bump on Brandy's remaining leg was indeed Osteosarcoma. She was also diagnosed with 2 small Lung MET's and her 10th rib had a "hot-spot". She is still feeling pretty good and she is eating and drinking well. Our main concern is the leg fracturing so our new vet found a new drug for Brandy to try. Has anyone heard of PAMIDRONATE. It is given by IV and it is supposed to help relieve pain, slow the bone deterioration and grow back damaged bone. I have done some research online and found that it really helped with pain and added to the survival time in some dogs. Brandy just got back from the vet after receiving her IV of the drug. Can anyone tell me if they have heard of this and if they have tried it. I will also let you all know how she does on it. Brandy has been on Arteminisin now for two months along with Tramadol and Deramaxx. We are not sure if the Arteminisin is working. If all goes well for the next couple of months, we plan on getting her another chest X-Ray to see if the Arteminisin shrunk any of the Lung MET's. We have not noticed any difference in her breathing thankfully and we are happy to report she is still enjoying her days of napping, swimming and playing with our other dogs. Originally, her doctor gave her 30-60 days and she is still going strong! I will keep you posted

Hi Teresa, I don't have any knowledge of that drug, but just wanted to say it is great to hear that Brandy is doing well and still enjoying life!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Yay, good news! I am so happy to know Brandy is doing well. I was wondering about her just last week, but I was afraid to ask. We have lost so many babies lately, I just didn't want it to have gone down hill for her too. So thank you sooooo much for posting this, I hope that new med kicks the holy crud out of cancer.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Way to go Brandy! Keep up the good work and take any yucky medicines they give you cuz they're for your own good, even if they have to stick you with a needle to give them to you. You'll get lots of treats and attention for being a good patient--and you'll feel a lot better too!
