Wolfgang's biopsy results: good news - the tumor in Wolfgang's leg is a Grade 2 (moderately growing) malignant nerve sheath tumor and the 'margins' are clear of cancer cells. We were told that there is always a chance (30%) of regrowth up towards the neck, and a sign of this would include neck pain. We are feeling optimistic and will take one day at a time.
Wolfie is doing great, amazing really no huge issues his appetite is great, he is resting a lot which I am thinking is a result pain killers but rest is what he needs right now. I do think he is getting phantom pains as he has burst of whines and cries maybe last 15 to 20 seconds then all is good. I do have a odd question for everyone, I realize they probably put a catheter in however is it normal for his penis to be swollen and bruised?

he loves being outside, here he is on the couch on the deck he had gotten himself on the couch it wasn't pretty I did have to fix his back legs but he did it all by himself
The other question I have is how soon should I start to consider rehab for him? Not that I want to do it now but I know I want to consider doing some at home when the time comes. I am in Northern Virginia (Washington DC area) anyone know of a good rehab center?

Hi Terry. I'm wondering it the whining bouts he is having is somehow related to that swelling? I would let your vet know asap. As you can see in these Forums search results it's not uncommon but important to have your vet take a look.
Rehab therapists tell us that they like to see new Tripawds about two weeks post surgery, so start calling around now. NoVa is a great area for care! Here's a couple of clinics I would take Wyatt Ray to if I was local:
VCA South Paws, Fairfax VA. Although they only list one therapist, I know that a long-time supporter of Tripawds raves about them and likes them so much she travels over an hour to take her dogs there when specialty care is needed.
Hope Advanced Veterinary Care, Vienna VA. They have three therapists with great credentials.
Veterinary Holistic Center (Springfield VA). They have SIX vets with fantastic backgrounds AND various rehabilitation therapy credentials. WOW! That's pretty much the gold standard, a vet with a CCRT or CCRP cred.

Wow! You got your biopsy results quickly! Glad it was positive news.
I did my surgery with VSC in Vienna, and they have a dedicated rehab staff. They are affiliated with The Hope Center in Vienna. One of their rehab technicians I worked with in NJ (RBVH) and I would trust her with my own pup for sure.
