A friend of mine just offered me 5 Bemer sessions for Cemil--does anyone know anything about that? I'd never heard of it.
This is his last day as a quadraped; or, as I correct myself, his last day of suffering with a bone tumor.
I switched user names to his; Cemil is the Anatolian Shepherd diagnosed a week ago. Thanks for any input on the Bemer sessions.

I searched the internet and found that it has to do with electro-magnetic energy at the level found in the earth. My friend thinks it really helps her; it's supposed to enhance the immune system, enhance healing after surgery...it looks like it can't hurt, and she's offering it to me free so I'm going to go see what it's all about. I really have no idea. I do have another friend who's an expert in electro magnetic ...stuff?.. relating to computers and the like--I'll ask him too, to make sure there's no danger. If Cemil can get into the truck and go someplace this weekend, we'll have the first session and I'll report.
Right now, he's about 1/3 of the way through his surgery. I'm a little anxious, but not too much.

Never heard of it ... but you can't beat the price! And we're all about documenting new treatment plans. We chose a certain protocol for Jerry and stuck with it, reporting it here in the blog and forums. Many thanks to you and others for doing the same, and sharing your experiences. Information is power. Thank you.

I never heard of Bemer either.
I just did a quick lookup on the internet, here are a couple of links I've found somewhat useful:
http://www.beme.....ancer.html
http://www.gree...../bemer.htm
Bemer sounds like it is primarily for musculoskeletal problems, surgery recovery, physical rehab.
If the amputation was because of physical injury, it wouldn't hurt trying Bemer for recovery and rehab. Being a layperson and not knowing exactly what the particular cancer (OS) is actually doing, I personally would be very cautious about any kind of energy stimulus to the cells.
Hope that your other friend who knows more in-depth knowledge in electromagnetic energy can provide you with more information.
Please do keep us posted! Always can learn new stuff each day!
My friend sent me to her website, which also has lots of (promotional?) information.
Go to my website for more info: http://www.beme.....amichealth. You can also look at research that has been done (on people) at http://www.afb-us.com and click on "Bemer"
THere are videos of improvements in horses after Bemer. We will probably show one of those on Sat at the Seminar.

We ended up not doing the Bemer treatments. My sister, who is an occupational therapist and works in a nursing home, told me that they use electro-magnetic therapy, but not on cancer patients. She advised against it.

The Bemer treatments are the same as a "mag box" that is used all the time in every racing kennel! After a race, a dog is put in the "mag box" to help recover from the race. Of course, it's not a pad like demonstrated but the magnets are enclosed in a fiberglass that fits on the floor of the crate. I have seen racers come off the track with some pretty bad muscle pain only to be fresh after a night in the mag box. I never knew the mag box had a name! LOL!
I was fortunate to be be able to use the mag box in a lot of kennels when Calamity was recovering from her first surgeries. You could see a huge improvement after each treatment. She moved better & did not seem to be in so much pain. I also had access to whirlpools which we used to help with movement when her incisions were healed, between surgeries. I was very blessed to have great trainer friends and the use of racing equipment during the year we struggled with her. I often wished for the mag boxes when she was healing from the amputation.
If you have access to a mag box, or similar treatment, I highly recomend it for healing. I guess more reserch would be required to see if it will hurt those of you with OS. For those with tramatic amputations, it can only help.
