Hi.
Just wanted to update you about Barney.
He is now just over 2 weeks post-op. We went through a lot of worries.....Barney lost his appetite, didn't want to drink water, slept lottttttss, had stiffness in back legs (due to not being able to have tablets, as not eating and had to be taken with food)! and was generally a bit fed up!!
But.....now he is absolutely fine! He is hopping around (at speed), can manage the stairs and jumps in the car! (all under our supervision)!!
His bark has returned, after being a bit 'gruff' after his op and he is HAPPY!!!!!
We have no regrets and are pleased the awful tumours have been removed.......and are now concentrating on getting his life back to normal as a 'tri-pawd'.
He is still on chemotherapy, but we are making his life as fun and happy as we can, for however long he has and are hoping he can carry on amazing the vets and that the chemo is successful in zapping anything horrid that may be lurking within!
A tripawd dog is amazing........we are very proud of our goreous Barney...and hopefully I will eventually manage to get a photo of him on here for you all to see!
Woof to all from Barney in the UK and his pawrents, Sue & John
Way to go Barney! Tripawds do make an amazing comeback. The funny thing now for me is that Trouble is normal, dogs with 4 legs look odd 😉
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

We all here in California are cheering for Barney and the remarkable recovery. While I have never been to the UK, Mom and Dad love to visit there and stroll through the history, homes, cathedrals, and water side parks. In fact, Dad would go over at least once a year to collaborate with a UK laboratory (Aldermaston).
Every one of us deal with the amputation and chemotherapy differently. For me, the chemotherapy was far worse than the amputation. Food really did not taste good until after the chemotherapy was over. Dad had to place food into my mouth until the chemotherapy was complete. He called it "stuffing" his little girl. It was not too bad as long as he placed the food beyond the tip of my tongue so that I did not have to taste it. I mention this because I do not want you to get discouraged if Barney's appetite drops a little after the next chemotherapy treatment. However, others have no such trouble.
I complete my sixth month of recovery this week and life is really good - just two weeks before we leave for our month long trip to Yellowstone. Please keep us posted and we look forward to a photo (use the profile to put a photo for Barney.) All our thoughts and best wishes.
