Any symptoms before lung mets were confirmed?

Hi all:

Tika isn't having a good day today.  I am HOPING that she just wore herself out yesterday acting like a maniac.  Ever play keep away with a malamute?  Great fun. A three-legged malamute -  HILARIOUS.

However, this morning she woke up to vomiting and then later this horrible, horrible cough. After that she just laid down and looked like she had been hit by a truck.  My husband is a basket case right now.

She is due for her regular checkup on May 18th.  However, did any of you experience any symptoms before finding out for sure about lung mets?  She has been panting alot, but it's not necessarily labored, just breathing a bit harder than she had been.

She has been eating well, showing interest in things around her, but the hacking cough and then just becoming 'blah' so quickly today has completely thrown us for a loop.

Like I said, hopefully she is just worn out from her shenanigans yesterday.  But I want to be realistic also.

Love to you all,

Kim and Tika

Hi Kim - oh no!!! I hope too that it's just the rough housing and playing that got to her...did she get into anything while playing around? That could be it....I have to DRAG Zeus away from all the fresh mulch this time of year and sometimes I have had to pull him away so hard that he has literally fallen over (wow do I feel bad when that has happened) - stubborn and still super strong dog that he is...anyway - maybe she just picked something up or has a stomach bug. It may not necessarily be lung mets...but only the doc will be able to tell you that.

They get dehydrated pretty quickly, so if she keeps vomiting, get her in ASAP.

We'll add her to our prayers - please keep us posted!

xooxo

We panicked when Jerry first started panting heavy, and it turned out to be the hot weather we were enduring in the Southwest at the tme. We got worried again when he later started coughing, and it turned out to be allergies. This is when a vet tech described the difference in coughs ... at this time, his cough was rather dry. Later when the mets started to grow, it was much more of a hack, deep and wet.

Oftentimes after playing ruff, he would be worn out for a couple days. We're sending our best wishes that this is all it is for Tika.

Tika is a lot better today. So, once again, mom is just being a big ninny.

We opened up our pool yesterday (nasty!) and Tika proceeded to jump in.  (REALLY NASTY), so we got the answer to my question of with the missing back leg, will she just swim in circles?  The answer is no.

Dad had to chase her down and spray her off since we just dumped a bunch of chemical in it, she was completely appalled with him. Cracked me up.

The heavier breathing is there, but it doesn't sound strained.  So we wait until the 18th with fingers crossed.........

Thank you so much for all of your input.  Have a great weekend!
