Well, two days home and Alexander is already ruling the roost again!! He is faster than we can keep up with him, forget that sling....He has his up and down moments, I hate about 1 hour after his pain meds he get all panty and exhausted and dopey, but I know he needs them to stay comfy.

We were lucky to get a poop yesterday, and he has been peeing regularly. He never stays where we want him and is so autonomous, he does exactly what he wants, like lay in my closet today...

I am soooo impressed with his progress, I know from posts on this site we may still have some down times, around day 7, I think is what people are saying, but this dogs is truly amazing me.

We received his Ruff-Wear Harness today, a donation from krispikritter, BIG THANKS to her. We won't be using it for a couple weeks, but it is going to be immensly helpful!

I am so happy to have the support of everyone on here, it has made this so much easier on my husband and myself...Thank You!

Way to go Alexander!  But we knew you would be awesome.  My Ruthie recovered so quickly and never really did have a bad day those first 2 weeks, so maybe you will be just as lucky.  And pooping so soon is a good thing.

I know Diane (krispikritter) will be happy that Magic's harness is going to get good use.

Looking forward to lots more great news.  You indeed rule Alexander!

WOW....it got there fast!!!!!  Sorry about that twisty strap...have fun mad

It sounds like he is just doing great...I am so very happy to hear that.....if you are finding that the pain meds are    creating some undesirable effects, check with your vet to see about changing to a different one....I don't know which one you are using, but if it is tramadol a lot of us have found that one to be problematic.....

he is so handsome...can't wait to see more pictures....I always thought I would like a great dane...then ran into a great dane puppy (I thought Whiskey was a chunk) and omg.....the people trying to contain this HUGE ball of energy...

Now I have a vested interest in Alexander....he has part of Magic on him....literally...notice the white hairs!?!?!?!

Rhoohoo!  Way to poop big guy!!! big-grin  Between constipation post-surgery and medication side effects, we tripawd pawrents tend to get a little extra excited over good poops.  But our dogs won't judge us for it, right?

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.

He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com

Yay, Alexander!  We'll keep all fingers and paws crossed that your recover continues to go really well.  We all do like to hear that they're pooping - I'm sure our dogs would find that amusing!

Hugs,

Wooo hoo! Now remember all dogs are different in their recovery. Some have issues and some don't, so hopefully Xander will continue with this pawesome recovery ad you won't experience any whatsoever.

Glad to hear the harness made it there so fast! Can't wait to see him modeling it!

Trouble never had any problems during recovery.  They took her off the pain meds a few days early and we could tell she wasn't quite ready, just seemed to be in a bit of a slump.  A call to the vet and a reduced amount of meds for a few more days did the trick.

If Alexander is a bit dopey on the meds, you might ask if you can reduce the dosage slightly.  I'm into giving them the least amount yet still  keep them comfortable.

So glad he is adapting and recovering well.  His progress is so similar to Malachi's, it sounds like the surgery didn't even phase him. Keep it up Alexander, you're doing great!
