Drats, I'm sorry to hear about the report. That's a heartbreaker for us, but you know for our dogs, well, good thing they can't read! Seriously, Abbey doesn't know what it said and she's not any different than before you got the news. Obviously that girl just wants to go go go!

Sounds like she's going to try to get back to her exuberant self maybe a little faster than her body is ready for. Take it slow and be sure to check out our exercise tips throughout the community to ensure she stays strong and injury free.

And give her a smooch from us, I love her spunk!

Abbey sounds amazing! smileyShe is recovering well & its so nice to see their rambunctious personalities come back isn't it? Once sutures are out its game on! lol Interesting you mentioned the fluid build up under her skin, that concerned me as well, but a couple days after I noticed it, it was gone, reabsorbed I guess. Its hard not to worry about them isn't it?!

As for the cone of shame , Kylie only wore it during the night when we weren't able to supervise her & trust me, no one was sleeping well! So I ordered a Kong cloud e-collar off amazon instead, its soft and you blow it up and she can eat and drink with it, and still see peripherally! Best $26 ever spent! winker Would recommend it to anyone! Saw it on this site, so thank You Tripawds!!

For meds, we came home with Tramadol and Metacam and have not weaned down yet. We are just 7 days post amp today. I'm glad they refilled Abbey's meds, I'd hate to see her become uncomfortable when she is doing so well so far.

Keep up the good work Abbey! clap

Chris & Kylie

Update on Abbey.  Well the vet never called in pain med refills for her tramadol so she's been just taking her gabapentin since Saturday morning.  I didn't sleep at all Saturday for fear that she would be in pain and scared all night.  She seemed to be pain free as far as I can tell.  If she is hurting, she isn't letting on.  Still getting plenty of rest and we are excited for her staples to get out in a few days!  Her sister can't wait to snuggle up with her again!  Yesterday she was taking a nap on her bed in our living room so I took the opportunity to take the trash out.  In the less than 2 minutes I was gone, Abbey took it upon herself to get on the couch and look out the window!  I think she was fake sleeping to get her helicopter mom out of the room.  She scared the living daylights out of me!  I wouldn't let her get down on her own so I had to lift her off the couch.  I know she wants to be able to do those things so badly!  Can't wait till Thursday!

HELICOPTER MOM!! Love that!!way-cool "Fake sleeping"! YAY FOR ABBEY!!

It is soooo delightful to see them get their sparkle back by doing things like reclaiming their couch!!

Really glad she seemed to get through the week end without any bad pain. Did the Vet "forget" to call it in? It woukd still be good to have some in hand.

Give Abbey and her sister an extra treat for us...and give yourself a hug from all of js! Good job!

Hugs!

Abbey had her staples out yesterday and she has been doing AWESOME!!  We lowered her dosage of pain meds and she seems very content with her new dosage.  She laid on the couch yesterday and watched her birds outside for 2.5 hours straight.  She was in heaven!  She also got to spend time with her sister Harper and there was a lot of tail wagging and face licking.  It was one of the sweetest things ever!  We met with her oncologist yesterday and we are starting her chemo treatments next week.  Praying she tolerates it well!  I just got my normal sweet, loving girl back to her normal happy self and I would prefer to keep it that way!

This update has me grinning ear to ear!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR ABBEY!! Stitches are out and her sparkle is coming back...and it still gets better!

O e thing with chemo is she can stip if she has ssevere side effects. It's rare, but it does happen here. Your Onco will give her Cerenia should she have any nausea. Some dogs may be off food for a day or so, or maybe tired for a day or so. And some dogs sail through with no issues kike my Hapoy Hannah!

Keep us posted! Oh, and Abbey shkd get a scoop of ice cream for stitch removal celebration! 🙂

Hugs!
