Welcome to the 'club' Bear. Sounds like you are doing great!!

Tahoe came home on day 2 post amp and went pee on his own, drenching his Superman shirt (dumb dad!). I was another two days later that he had a poop. The vet suggested adding some non-flavoured Metamucil to his meals. That did the problem. I found that while Tahoe was on his meds (apprx 2 weeks post amp) he was pretty bunged-up. He has now finished his meds and the plumbing is much better.

Good luck Bear...maybe take a newspaper with you and just relax buddy....

Thanks for all of the encouragement. Today Bear is doing much better. Still no poop, but I'm sure soon. He took his first walk today to the end of the street. I am very impressed with him.
Katy, great advice with the saline! Thank you!
Michelle, I would love to hear more about Sassy. How long has she been part of the Tripawed community? Is she a big girl?

Hi Stirling, too funny! How much Metamucil did you give Tahoe?

Oh you'll be so hoppy when he takes his first poop! You can try shaking a little metamucil, maybe a tablespoon at the most, to see how that helps. Some olive oil, or bran cereal also helps.

Let us know when you do the potty dance!

Come on, Bear!  Pooooooop!

~ Katy

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. A little late to the pawty but it sounds like we got here just in time to celebrate with Miracle Bear!!!

You are doing a wonderfully diligent job!! If you're like me (and I hope not!) I can become a master worry wart and, when I can't keep myself in check, I reach out to this site as though it's my only source of oxygen! So know that we are all here for you anytime with anything!!! We love celebrating poops so look forward to that!
He med combo sounds like the normal "stuff"........you may even have to slow him down a bit the first week or so as he sounds lie he's ready for a marathon!! Bear UST doesn't know he could over-do it a touch before all his other muscles gain strength.

Soooooo glad everything is going so well and I know you feel relieved! Could still have some ups and downs so UST know that's normal and we are here for you!

You are not alone!! Lots of joy to you, Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks a bunch Sally and Happy Hannah. This site is the best resource I have found. The people are wonderful too. I know I will have a lot of questions as we get closer to when chemo starts. His lungs are clear and everything looks good. I am appreciating every day with him and all of the support.
