For those of you not familiar with Tri Kittys besides Jill ;) , besides accidents, one of the leading causes of kitty leg amputations is VAS (Vaccine Associate Sarcoma).

The American Association of Feline Practitioners has released its latest vaccination guidelines and it is much stricter than previously reported.  MANY cats are afflicted with this cancer and it's important to know this information when taking your kitty to the vet - one of the most important that I know from another group I am a member of (VAS support group, no Jill is not a VAS cat, but they helped me through her amputation....don't get jealous) is that kitties should NEVER be vaccinated in their scruff, always the leg.  That way IF they do get VAS, the leg can be amputated for wide margins.

Anyway- enough of me, go read the article if you have a kitty or ever want one!  It's IMPORTANT good information about a cancer that is PREVENTABLE!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Wow, thank you. My kitty is due for her rabies so this is good info to have. Having a tripawd dog, I have no interest in making it a complete household thing.

I thank you and Wallee thanks you!

Right rear leg amp 7/12/16 due to OSA. Metastatic lesion on her right front leg, January 2017. Joined the Winter Warriors January 19, 2017. Run free my sweet girl.

Thank you!  A few years ago we lost our Midnight to a tumor on his leg that I now believe was this.  I have to admit that since our cats are indoor-only cats, I normally don't take them in for vaccines after their 1 year shots.  If they go in for some other thing, then they get caught up, but other than that ...
