Hey everypawdy, I've been meaning to write about this for a while, and now my friend Sharon at Dog Wheelchair Life did us the favor! Here's a great article about the benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for treating a number of medical issues like:
- FCE Stroke
- Head injury
- Spinal cord injuries
- IVDD – Intervertebral Disc Disease
- Wounds
- Pancreatitis
- Peritonitis
- Post-surgical recovery
I've asked her if they know of case studies for cats too, and am waiting to hear back. See the comments in the article.

I know this thread is 4 years old... but I've only recently become a Tripawds mum! My darling Black Cat (age unknown but probably somewhere 15+ years) had his hind right-leg amputated 5 1/2 weeks ago due to SCC. Being the age he is, and how quickly he degenerated prior to surgery (loooong story to blog with... ), I was completely terrified he would be incapable of making it through the surgery.
We fortunately located a beautiful woman not too far from us who utilised her hyperbaric oxygen chamber, and Pemf mat, on Black Cat at least two times every day for 4 weeks prior to surgery, and 2 weeks post. BC's recovery is up and down ~ mostly up, it's early days yet ~ but his coat is shiny, his eyes are bright, every day has a bit more 'hop' in it, and he's the lovable beautiful boy he has always been... just without pain. Thank goodness for that.
The hyperbaric, we feel, was absolutely pivotal in his healing journey; with it, we're happily reunited with our fantastic, healing tripaw.
