AWESOME news on the transport!  I'm so thrilled and relieved that he is out of the shelter, out of Taos, and out of New Mexico!!

Keep those updates coming.  I'm checking frequently.  Can't wait to hear more about Baggins.

What a beautiful blessing this is.

This just in from the rottie pack in CO Springs…

Baggins is home with us!! He is SUCH a sweet boy!! You are getting a very special, sweet, kind, loving boy!!! He is very well mannered…he was very quiet and calm in the truck on the way home…just laid very nicely in the back seat (wish ours rode as nicely), and he is very much the gentleman around the girls!! We gave him some dinner…and he just played a bit with the girls and is now laying at my feet !! We took some pictures and Ted will be posting them to the tripawd site shortly!!

How exciting!!

Mary Malone

Exciting indeed. We'll hook up in the morning for a handoff and be on the road all day tomorrow. Will report back in from Salt Lake City. So glad to hear he's such a good boy… cool

Thank's for the update.  I have been reading this topic all week.  Baggins is an amazing guy.  I can't wait for Dawn to meet him.  I know they will be soulmates. (Well I think they are already).

Oh, and BTW:  Did you all notice no MB (monkeybutt)????  He ha a tail!  I haven't had a dog with a tail in 25 years!

I just can't name my dog after that horrible purple dinosaur.  Ha, ha!  surprised  They used that song to torture terrorists in interrogation you know!  Too bad the name is ruined for me, otherwise I would really like it.  I like Roadie and Miles.  Heck Baggins is growing on me we've been using it so long, hard to change if I use one too long...  A shelter employee gave it to him, as he had no dog tags, so he really doesn't know it probably.  Baggins?  I wonder if that's from the Hobbit?  Is there any other Baggins?

Admin Guy just called, he's got Baggins and is on the way! Says he's a pretty cool dog! We expect him to be in SLC between 6 and 7 tonight, depending on traffic.

As for Baggins' name, Wikipedia says:

Bilbo Baggins is the protagonist of The Hobbit and also makes a few appearances in The Lord of the Rings, two of the most well-known of J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy writings. The story of The Hobbit featuring Bilbo is also retold from a different perspective in the Chapter The Quest of Erebor in Unfinished Tales.

In Tolkien's narrative conceit, in which all the writings of
Middle-earth are 'really' translations from the fictitious volume of The Red Book of Westmarch, Bilbo is the author of The Hobbit and translator of The Silmarillion.

And here's a little tribute to Baggins . . .you might like "Roadie" better after seeing this!

I think Baggins to be quite appropriate; after all, Frodo Baggins (main character in The Lord of the Rings) took an epic journey.

Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

Did Bilbo also journey to Middle Earth?  Gosh, I was a kid when I read the Hobbit...  Frodo took over, right?  Well, if it is about them making incredible journeys and being heroes, maybe it is appropriate!

That video was hilarious.  laughing
