We may implement the ability for users to rate posts. This topic is solely to judge whether or not this is a good idea, and if users would use the function. It should be self explanatory...

Drawbacks: This function does add more data to the database, and may minimally impact load times for Forums.

this is going to seriously diminish my self esteem when all my posts get one star..........
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. But the "stars" with which to vote didn't show up on my TABLET...when I tried to write reply....only showed up AFTER reply was posted....so couldn't post m y one star vote......any other tablets have this issue?
Okay, I know this is NOT a thread for discussion............just wondering "out loud".... the purpose. What's of value to one person may not mean squat to another. It's so subjective. It seems that the replies already express the value.
I mean, the value of seeing Jill dressed up in costume and Happy Hannah eating a banana like a monkey and Merry Myrtle boxing with Stoner the stoned cat.....not enough stars to rate those jewels!!

My vote is not to rate the posts. I know it seems like a good idea in theory but don't want people to get upset. Once again just my opinion. And we don't want anything to mess with the loads on the forum and make more work

Thanks for the feedback! Considering nopawdy clicked the stars to rate any of the posts, and there seems to be an issue with little green robot devices, we doubt we will be implementing this feature.
For the record, we were only considering it so we could host our own photo contests here in the forums, without making people interact with the Faceborg. To be more specific, we were considering holding a Howloween Costume Contest where memebrs could post pictures in a forum topic, then others could vote for the favorite photo. Just seeking a way to do that here, without sending people to Facecrook. (We could turn the rating feature on just for one forum, and turn it off when the contest was over.)

Yes, I think rating photos for a contest is a good idea. I'm also not on facebook and it would make it easier for us to do contests. I was feeling guilty about suggesting you do a Halloween contest since you do all the work especially with calendar time here. So having everyone else rate the photos would hopefully free you up a little.
